Useful information about pallet types, pallet dimensions, and cargo packaging.

A pallet is widely used to speed up cargo loading and unloading operations. Essentially, a pallet is a flat platform on which cargo is placed. Modern pallets are equipped with support blocks (“feet”) that allow forklift forks to be inserted underneath.

Pallets are manufactured from wood, steel, lightweight metal alloys, synthetic materials, or a combination of these materials. Cargo placed on a pallet is usually secured with plastic strapping or wrapping film.

  • Euro Pallet (EUR Pallet)
  • Finnish Pallet (FIN)
  • Industrial Pallet

Euro pallet dimensions: width 800 mm, length 1200 mm, height 145 mm.

Standard load capacity: 600 kg

Finnish pallet dimensions: width 1000 mm, length 1200 mm, height 145 mm.

Standard load capacity: 750 kg

These pallets are marked with the manufacturer's stamp (code and year of production) and are also identified by the distinctive FIN marking.

Industrial pallet pallet dimensions: width 1200 mm, length 1200 mm, height 1500 mm.

The standard load capacity: 900 kg

It does not have a stamp. It resembles a EURO pallet in its looks.

The weight of the pallet is not standardized as the pallet is made of different materials,
the average weight of pallets ranges 15-20 kg. Some manufacturers state the weight of their pallets up to 40 kg.

The height of the cargo packages and the number of rows in the shipping container packages should be calculated at the rate: the maximum height of the package – no more than 1800 mm.

The cargo placed on the pallet must not exceed the dimension of the pallet itself by more than 20 mm on each side.
